Zach has worked in the ski industry for the last 14 years. Most of that time has been patrolling at Monarch Mountain for 14 years, with time spent guiding for Monarch Cat Skiing, working as the Snow Safety Officer at Coronet Peak in New Zealand, and working with his now retired avalanche dog Anchin. The last 7 years he has been the Ski Patrol Director at Monarch. In that time, he has had the opportunity to learn much from the mountains, be mentored by some amazing people, and be humbled consistently by the Colorado snowpack. Zach has been teaching with the Silverton Avalanche School for the last three seasons and sees the opportunity to teach as a way to give back to the community that has helped him learn and grow. When not teaching, he can usually be found touring, riding bikes or in the mountains with his family.
